That's right folks. In a press release we received today, we learned that Bethesda's Fallout 3 has sold over 4.6 million copies so far. This translates to $300 million in sales in a worldwide launch over three systems and multiple languages. They said it was one of the most anticipated games of 2008, and these numbers prove it to be so.
It's this sort of news that makes me do a little happy dance for the RPG genre. 2008 is proving to be a banner year for us RPG players. There are so many big name RPGs running in my household right now I don't have time to play them all. Oh well, instead of worrying about getting all my RPG-ing done, I will instead revel in what I hope continues to be the rise of the RPG.

I wonder how many of those copies got returned right away? The local GameStop saw a flood of them because of people snapping the game up who thought it was an FPS based on the commercials.
(I got a cheap Special Edition version of F3 loaded with all the goodies out of it, so I can't say I exactly mind.)
