When Zombies Attack: A WoW World Event

Oct. 23 8:37 AM by Mandifesto

Yesterday I spent an unhealthy amount of time roaming Azeroth taking candy from buckets around the World of Warcraft. While in Booty Bay I happened upon a set of crates that intrigued me, and so I clicked on one. Ten minutes later I was a zombie, and smack dab in the middle of what I now know is the world event leading up to Wrath of the Lich King.

How do I know this? World of Raids tells me so, and I have my own meager experience to back this up. Essentially, by opening the Conspicuous Crate I was transformed into a zombie, able to infect others. This has the potential for some awesome fun, seeing as how when you are a zombie you can attack players of the same faction and are friendly to other zombies. Good times will be had by all.

I am unclear at the moment on the lore connected with this, beyond the obvious that the Lich King is sending the Plague into Azeroth to try and build his armies. I do know it's loads of fun as playing as a zombie requires you to feed on other players and NPCs if you want to keep alive. Tricky business, but seriously fun.

Zombies? Armies? Fun?

It's starting to sound like WoW: WOTLK is turning into a Sam Raimi film. Let me know when you find Bruce Campbell :-)

"My name is Ash... and I... am a slave."

I've been having way too much fun as a Zombie. Last night I infected all of South Shore AND the Tauren Mill. This morning I went and joined up with a handfull of other zombies and we controlled Sentinell Hill for quite some time. You can build your own zombie army! Every humanoid NPC that you kill instantly turns into a zombie. You have an ability that will call all NPC zombies that you've turned to your aid, growing your army larger and larger with each kill!

Watch out for pesky Paladins, Priests, and Duids, that love to try and ruin your fun by cleansing everything. I've killed so many of them as a zombie, they always suicide and come back to continue their quest of cleansing.

The biggest flaw I found with this event is that you can loose rep with the Steamweedle cartel if you kill NPCs in those towns, as I so painfully found out.

This is by far the best story bridge to an expansion that I have seen so far. It's so interesting, filled with events and gives you the biggest reason to go to northrend and stop this madness.

The dark portal opening and the nax arrival was fun, but this time, it's serious and really amusing.

To Northrend!
